Hello! My name is Bibi Halfrose, and I am a proud nurse living on the Essequibo Coast, specifically along the scenic Public Road at Better Hope, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in Guyana has gifted me a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, from the rich flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and roti to the soothing sounds of the Pomeroon River gently flowing by. Just like many of us, I have fond memories of family gatherings where we share stories and laughter while enjoying a meal together.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, my journey into nursing is rooted in the same spirit of community and care that defines our people. I appreciate how our nation is known for its kindness and resilience, reflected in the warm smiles of the families I work with daily. I often reminisce about my childhood and the unique names of our landmarks—like St. Monica and Upper Pom River—that remind me of home. I cherish the connections I have with others from Guyana, whether we’re exchanging recipes or reminiscing about our shared experiences.
In my role as a nurse, I strive to embody the values of compassion and dedication that are hallmarks of our culture.
