About BINDA WATTIE KETWARU

About Binda Ketwaru

Greetings! My name is Binda Ketwaru, and I am a proud teacher residing in the heart of the Essequibo Coast at 51 Public Road Cotton, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity of Guyana, I've always found inspiration in the vibrant culture and resilient spirit of its people. There's a unique charm to our country, often described as an oasis in South America, and I strive to instill that love and pride in my students every day.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the deep connections we maintain with our homeland, no matter where we are in the world. From savoring our delicious Chinese food that many agree is the best to reminiscing about the beautiful banks of the Lower Pomeroon River, every moment spent here reinforces my commitment to education and community. I believe that sharing our stories and cultural heritage is essential for fostering a sense of belonging, especially for our younger generations.

In my classroom, I prioritize authenticity and encourage my students to explore their roots, embracing the diverse influences that shape our identity. Whether it's discussing the four natural regions of Guyana or celebrating our unique festivals, I aim to create an engaging environment where every student feels valued. Together, we can navigate the ups and downs of life, each learning from the rich experiences that make us who we are.
