Hello! I’m Boodnarine Mahadeo, a proud miner from the heart of Essequibo, specifically from the vibrant community of Block 8, New Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up here, I’ve come to appreciate the lush landscapes and the rich cultural fabric that defines our region. As a miner, I’ve spent countless hours in the bush, where the call of the jungle is matched only by the camaraderie of my fellow workers. We share stories over a plate of fried plantain and salt fish, reminding ourselves of the warmth of our people and the beauty of our surroundings. Despite the challenges our beloved Guyana faces, I believe that by highlighting our experiences, we can inspire change and foster a sense of community, both here and among the diaspora.
