Hello! I’m Boodram Persaud, a proud farmer residing in the beautiful Essequibo Supenaam Creek region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in the rich soil of Guyana, where the rhythm of the land and the songs of the river guide my daily life. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of this area, I’ve developed a profound respect for our natural resources and the traditional knowledge passed down through generations.
My passion for farming goes hand in hand with my love for the local cuisine. Whether it’s crafting a delicious pepperpot for family gatherings or sharing a plate of fresh cook-up rice with neighbors, food is a central part of our culture. I often reminisce about the time our community came together to celebrate the arrival of the mango season — a time filled with laughter, stories, and, of course, plenty of fresh mangoes! These experiences remind me how important it is to stay connected to our heritage, even from afar.
As I work the land, I also keep an eye on my fellow Guyanese in the diaspora. The stories and memories shared by those abroad inspire me to continue nurturing our cultural legacy. I hope to contribute to a future where our children can embrace their identity, no matter where life takes them.
