About BRIAN SMITH

About Brian Smith

Greetings! I'm Brian Smith, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up near the banks of the Essequibo River, I've spent my life immersed in the rich culture and natural beauty that Guyana has to offer. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or gathering with friends for a cook-up in the backyard, food is an integral part of our community and a way to connect with our roots.

As a Guyanese, I carry the warmth and resilience of my people, who are often described as having a unique attitude that can be both charming and challenging. We have a way of expressing ourselves that reflects our diverse backgrounds, from the vibrant Indo-Guyanese to our Afro-Guyanese heritage. I love sharing this cultural richness with friends and visitors, whether it's teaching them how to properly pronounce β€œEssequibo” or laughing together over some of the more amusing mispronunciations of our local landmarks.

I'm deeply connected to the Guyanese diaspora, who share a longing for our homeland's lush landscapes and vibrant traditions. I believe in the importance of maintaining these connections, whether through storytelling or sharing a good laugh over the love-hate dynamics of our community. So, if you ever find yourself on the Essequibo coast, don’t hesitate to reach outβ€”I'd be delighted to share a taste of home with you!
