About BRIDGE MOHAN SHAM

About Bridge Sham

Hello! I’m Bridge Sham, a proud labourer hailing from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically the lively community of Columbia in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful part of Guyana, where the lush landscapes meet the winding rivers, and the warmth of the people is unmatched. Whether I’m working hard or sharing stories over a plate of pepperpot or some fresh cooked fish from the river, I cherish every moment spent with family, friends, and the rich culture that surrounds me.

Growing up near the Lower Pomeroon River, I’ve always felt a strong connection to nature and the rhythm of life here. From the tranquil beauty of the Quitaro Island to the lively atmosphere of our local markets, every corner of my homeland tells a story. I often reminisce about the simple joys of gathering with friends for a cookout, where we share our favorite dishes and reminisce about our childhood adventures. The essence of our culture is not just in our food but also in our traditions, music, and the way we come together as a community.

As I navigate life in the diaspora, I carry the spirit of Guyana with me, whether it's enjoying Guyanese cuisine at my favorite Caribbean restaurant in Queens or sharing my experiences in New Jersey with fellow Guyanese. I believe that staying connected with my heritage is vital, and I am committed to sharing the beauty of my culture with those around me, no matter where life takes me.
