Greetings! I’m Bruno Sulker, a proud resident of Pomeroon in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities, I draw immense pride from my roots. My life here is steeped in the rich cultural traditions that define our nation, from the spirited celebrations of Amerindian Heritage Month to the delightful tastes of our local cuisine, which includes everything from pepperpot to the beloved cook-up rice. I often find myself reminiscing about the days spent along the Pom River, where the aroma of fresh fish and the sound of laughter resonate with the warmth of our community.
As a Guyanese, I cherish the strong connections we share with our diaspora. Whether it’s through lively discussions about our shared experiences or the hilarious banter about how foreign life can never quite capture the essence of home, we celebrate our heritage across borders. I often hear tales of friends who have ventured abroad and can’t help but miss the simple pleasures of our local food, saying, “Yeah bai, gone and eat GT food lol!” Our culture is unique, and it’s essential to keep it alive, even when we are far from home.
Living here, I am dedicated to fostering a spirit of perseverance and community, just like our Pomeroon roots suggest. We face challenges, yes, but our resilience shines through. As we say, “Pom River Grant Perseverance!” It’s this attitude that connects us to each other, our heritage, and the beautiful land we call home. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
