Hello! My name is Camal Persaud, and I am a proud housewife living on the Coast Public Road Paradise in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. I cherish our vibrant culture, which is a blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Dutch influences. Our rich culinary traditions, like the delicious crab served fresh from the Demerara River, are a source of pride. There’s nothing quite like sharing a plate of pepperpot or cook-up rice with family and friends, accompanied by the sounds of our local music that always brings back fond memories.
Living in Guyana is an experience filled with warmth, and I often find joy in exploring the lush landscapes and the unique flora and fauna of our country. From the majestic Kaieteur Falls to the serene rivers that shape our land, there’s so much beauty to be appreciated. Though I may be far from some of my family members in the diaspora, I feel a strong connection to them as we share stories of our home, like the breathtaking views and the cultural richness that Guyana has to offer.
As I navigate my daily life, I am continuously reminded of how much I love my country. The pride I feel for Guyana is immense, and I strive to share this love with those around me, whether it's through cooking traditional meals or discussing our diverse heritage.
