Hello! My name is Capildeo Rooplall, and I am a proud farmer from the beautiful Pomeroon region in Guyana. Nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam area, my roots run deep in this vibrant community where tradition and agriculture thrive. Growing up here, I learned the art of cultivating crops that nourish both my family and our local market. There’s nothing quite like sharing a plate of freshly made dhal puri to scoop up the bhaji and curry from the pot—it's a staple that represents the warmth and togetherness of our people.
As a Guyanese, I take immense pride in our rich culture that blends African, Indian, Amerindian, and Caribbean influences. From the rolling hills to the flowing rivers, every aspect of this land holds a piece of our history. I often reminisce about the lively festivals, the sounds of chutney music echoing through the streets, and the delicious aroma of our local dishes wafting through the air. Whether it's celebrating Diwali or Mashramani, our cultural diversity is a source of strength for our community, and I cherish every moment spent with family and friends.
Though many of us have spread across the globe, including places like Hackney in London, the bond with our homeland remains unbreakable. I dream of connecting with Guyanese from all walks of life, sharing stories and experiences that remind us of who we are—the “long lost brothers and sisters,” as some might say. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of Guyana lives on, both here in Pomeroon and far beyond our shores.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
