About CARL ANTHONY HAIMWATTIE

About Carl Haimwattie

Greetings! My name is Carl Haimwattie, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Hall Essequibo Coast Public Road Bounty in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a labourer, I've dedicated my life to hard work and supporting my family, drawing inspiration from the resilience and spirit of my fellow Guyanese. The lush landscapes that surround us, often referred to as the "Garden City of the Caribbean," enrich our daily lives with beauty and abundance, reminding us of our deep connection to the land and our rich cultural heritage.

Guyana is a unique blend of influences, shaped by our Indigenous roots, African heritage, and the legacies of Indian and Caribbean cultures. You can often find me enjoying a hearty bowl of pepper pot, a traditional dish that holds a special place in our hearts and homes, especially during festive occasions. Our gatherings are lively, filled with laughter, music, and the rhythm of our diverse traditions that echo through the generations. I believe that our culture, history, and communal ties firmly establish our identity as Caribbean people, despite the dense bush that separates us from the rest of South America.

Living in Guyana's coastal regions, I cherish the sense of community we share, as we navigate our lives in a land that may be lesser-known to many but is rich in stories and warmth. The camaraderie among our diaspora, whether through the spice of our food or the stories of our ancestors, continually strengthens the bonds we have with each other, regardless of where we may be. I look forward to connecting with others who share this love for our culture and who appreciate the unique essence of being Guyanese.
