Hello! I’m Carmen De Freitas, a proud housewife from the beautiful Pomeroon region in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of this area has deeply influenced who I am today. Whether it’s the soothing sounds of the Pomeroon River or the fragrant aroma of my family’s famous curry, my heart is always tied to this land. I cherish the moments spent in our local markets, where the colors of fresh produce and the warmth of friendly greetings reflect the spirit of our people.
Though I currently reside in Guyana, I have family members in the diaspora who often share their experiences, reminding me of the importance of staying connected to our roots. I am always excited to hear how my cousins in Canada and the US carry our traditions forward, whether through cooking our flavorful dishes or celebrating our rich cultural festivals. It brings me joy to know that despite the miles between us, our shared heritage keeps us united.
