About CAROL ALLISON SPARMAN

About Carol Sparman

Hello! I’m Carol Sparman, a proud housewife living in the vibrant community of Demerara 13, nestled on the scenic L'Oratoire Canal No. 1 in the beautiful Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. My heart is deeply rooted in the rich culture of Guyana, where the aroma of pepperpot and the sweetness of metemgee fill our homes, making every meal a celebration of our heritage. I cherish our local traditions and often spend my days exploring the lush landscapes, whether it's fishing in the Essequibo River or enjoying the lively markets of Georgetown with family and friends.

Having connections both at home and within the diaspora, I am always inspired by the stories of Guyanese around the world. The pride in our identity shines through, especially when I see fellow Guyanese, like my compatriots who boldly announce, “I’m Guyanese and proud!” Whether it’s sharing a laugh over our unique quirks or reminiscing about our vibrant festivals like Mashramani, I feel a strong sense of belonging. Here in Demerara, we embrace our roots, while also welcoming influences from our diverse community.

I believe that even though challenges exist back home, love and resilience unite us. As I navigate the joys of family life, I strive to keep our culture alive for my children, teaching them the values and traditions that make us who we are. From the warmth of our community gatherings to the pride of our local crafts and foods, I aim to pass down the essence of being Guyanese, no matter where life takes us!
