Hello! My name is Cecil George, and I proudly call the lush landscapes of Upper Pom River, specifically the right bank dredge area in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. As a farmer, I've cultivated a deep connection with the land, growing everything from rice to various fruits that thrive in our rich, fertile soil. Our community is vibrant, filled with shared stories over a good plate of cook-up rice or some freshly caught fish—a true taste of Guyanese culture.
Growing up here, I’ve always been surrounded by the beautiful Amerindian heritage that shapes our identity. It's fascinating to witness the coexistence of the nine indigenous groups, from the Arawaks to the Waraus, each contributing their unique traditions and flavors to our daily lives. Whether it's the rhythmic beats of a tassa drum during celebrations or the communal gatherings that bring us closer, these experiences have deepened my appreciation for our diverse culture.
