Hello! My name is Chandrawat Deonarine, and I proudly hail from the scenic shores of the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful village of Windsor Castle, Anna, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a dedicated rice farmer, I have a deep-rooted connection to the rich agricultural heritage of our land, where the fertile soil and flowing rivers nourish both our crops and our culture. My days are filled with the rhythms of farming life, and there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of seeing my hard work translate into the local delicacies that grace our tables, from fragrant rice dishes to the flavorful curries that reflect our diverse culinary traditions.
In addition to my work on the farm, I am also passionate about staying connected with the diaspora community. Conversations about our shared experiences, like those fond memories of Canal Lower Pom or River Grant, often remind me of the unique dialect and culture we carry, no matter where we are. I take pride in sharing our stories and the significance of our landmarks, such as the vibrant market scenes or the legacy of figures like Cheddi Jagan.
