Greetings! My name is Chidanand Kishore, and I proudly hail from the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Somerset and Berks, situated in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a dedicated farmer, I cultivate a rich variety of crops that reflect the vibrant agricultural heritage of Guyana. From sweet cassava to fragrant rice, my hands are deeply rooted in the soil that nourished generations before me, reminding me of the hard work and resilience of our ancestors who faced immense challenges.
Growing up in this lush landscape, I have a profound appreciation for our local culinary delights, especially a good roti paired with flavorful duck curry, which brings friends and family together. I often share this experience with fellow Guyanese and those in the diaspora, who sometimes feel that the world overlooks our unique culture. It's frustrating to see our existence often overshadowed, but I take pride in representing my homeland and its rich traditions, from our music to our storytelling.
In addition to my farming endeavors, I am passionate about connecting with our wider community—both here in Guyana and abroad. It's essential that we celebrate our identity and advocate for our rights, especially in light of recent developments like the oil discovery that has sparked much discussion.
