About CHITROUTIE JAIRAM

About Chitrouterie Jairam

Greetings! My name is Chitrouterie Jairam, and I call the West Coast Demerara home, specifically the East Sideline Dam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara has deeply shaped my identity. Whether it's enjoying a plate of delicious pepperpot on Christmas morning or gathering with family to celebrate Phagwah, I cherish the flavors and traditions that connect us to our rich Guyanese heritage.

As a proud resident of the Pomeroon area, I have a special fondness for the rivers that crisscross our beautiful land. The Pomeroon River, with its serene flow, is not just a geographical feature; it's a lifeline that nurtures our communities and connects us to our past. I often reminisce about the lively celebrations along the riverbanks, where music fills the air and laughter echoes, reminding me of the spirit of togetherness that defines us as Guyanese.

Though I now find myself in a diverse diaspora, my heart remains anchored in Guyana. I stay connected to my roots through community gatherings, sharing stories, and celebrating our culture with others. Whether it's discussing the best spots to enjoy a good “Doll” or reminiscing about the unique charm of Lower Pom River, I take pride in bringing a piece of Guyana wherever I go, fostering connections that span across miles while keeping our vibrant culture alive.
