Hello! I’m Chris De Souza, a proud vendor and resident of East Bank Essequibo, where I’ve set up shop along the bustling Main Road. Growing up in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I’ve always been deeply connected to the rich culture and traditions of Guyana. From the sweet aroma of spicy cook-up rice wafting through the air to the lively sounds of steel pan music, my heart beats in rhythm with the pulse of my homeland.
As a vendor, I aim to bring a taste of Guyana to everyone I meet, offering local delicacies that celebrate our diverse heritage. Whether it’s a plate of delicious pepperpot or a refreshing glass of mauby, I believe that food has a unique way of connecting people, both here and in the diaspora. I cherish the stories of fellow Guyanese, whether they’re reminiscing about the serene beauty of Warakabra Hill or the lively streets of Georgetown. Our shared experiences shape our identity, and I strive to honor that in my community interactions.
Engaging with my fellow Guyanese at home and abroad is vital to me.
