Greetings from the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam! My name is Chris Persaud, a dedicated labourer who takes pride in my work and my heritage. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from the savory curry chicken to the sweet and aromatic black cake. Every meal is a celebration, reminding me of the vibrant community gatherings that bring us together. Although some may jest about our challenges, I truly believe that Guyana's charm lies in our resilience and spirit.
Having spent time in New York, I often reminisce about the days of exploring diverse cultures and indulging in the unique Guyanese food that my friends and I would cook together. The warmth and flavor of our dishes, much like our people, are truly unmatched. And while some may joke about comparing us to our Caribbean neighbors, I find joy in our distinct identity—every joke holds a kernel of truth in the bonds we share as a diaspora.
