Hello! My name is Christine Peru, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. I work as a farmer, cultivating the rich lands of Pomeroon-Supenaam, where the soil is as vibrant as the culture that surrounds us. Growing up in a community where the sweet aroma of cook-up rice and the warmth of family gatherings fill the air, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Nothing brings us together quite like a plate of freshly caught fish and festival meals during Phagwah and Mashramani.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the significance of staying connected with our roots. Whether it’s reminiscing about weekends spent along the Pomeroon River or sharing stories about our beloved Regent and Durban Streets, these memories remind us of who we are. I often find myself reflecting on how our resilience and unity as a people echo through generations, even as we navigate life abroad.

Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
