Hello! I’m Christopher Persaud, a proud Guyanese resident of the Essequibo Coast, where I serve as the Clerk in Charge at my local office. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my roots stretch deep into the vibrant culture of this land, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the warmth of community envelops you like a familiar embrace. Growing up here, I’ve developed a profound appreciation for our local treasures, from the sweet taste of a fresh cassava pone to the vibrant festivities of Phagwah and Mashramani that bring us all together.
My journey is intertwined with the rich history of our people, a blend of East and West Indies heritage that shapes our identity. As a descendant of those who migrated during the indentureship period, I cherish the connection to our Motherland, India, as well as the unique Guyanese Creole lifestyle that distinguishes us within the Caribbean. Whether it’s exploring the lush landscapes of Kamadankoro or sharing stories with friends from Lower Pomeroon River, I find joy in celebrating our diverse traditions and culinary delights.
As I continue my work here on the Essequibo Coast, I am dedicated to fostering community spirit and supporting our local initiatives.
