Greetings! I’m Cicely Stanuell, a proud housewife residing on the beautiful Coast 39 Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the vibrant colors of our flag to the delectable flavors of our traditional dishes. I often reminisce about family gatherings filled with mouth-watering pepperpot and delicious metemgee, a celebration of our diverse culinary roots that I wish were more accessible to the diaspora. Living in a multicultural society, I’ve embraced the connections we share with our Indian and Afro-Guyanese communities, celebrating our festivals together, including Diwali and Mashramani. The vibrant Hindu temples that dot our landscape remind me of the unity that exists among us all. I often think of my Hindu brothers and sisters, sending warm greetings their way as we share in the joy of our cultural festivities. It’s this sense of belonging that keeps the spirit of Guyana alive, no matter where we are in the world.
As I navigate life as a housewife, I find joy in nurturing my family and keeping the traditions of our homeland alive.
