Hello! I’m Nazera Ramit, a proud resident of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, where the vibrant culture of Guyana comes alive in every corner. Growing up near the lush landscapes and riverbanks, I developed a deep appreciation for our country’s rich biodiversity and the unique blend of cultures that make Guyana special. From the lush forests, ranked #1 in the world for forest area per capita, to the famous Essequibo River, my hometown is a testament to the beauty that surrounds us.
As a food lover, nothing brings me more joy than sharing a plate of spicy curry and freshly made roti with friends and family. It’s a ritual that transcends borders, connecting our diaspora community with the flavors of home, no matter where we are in the world. I often reminisce about those warm evenings filled with laughter and good food, making me understand why many who have left wonder about the mix of cultures back home and how they have evolved over time.
While I may find myself in a different corner of the world now, the spirit of Guyana follows me. I cherish the friendships I’ve made with fellow Guyanese and others from the Caribbean and beyond. Each conversation, whether about our homeland or the challenges we face abroad, reinforces my belief in the resilience of our people.
