Greetings! My name is Cindy Small, and I proudly call the stunning region of Pomeroon in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich traditions, including the sweetness of our ripe mangoes, the aroma of freshly cooked rice and peas, and the warmth of our community gatherings. Living near the iconic Pom River has gifted me with countless memories of family picnics and fishing expeditions, as well as a strong sense of connection to my roots.
As a resident of Guyana, I understand the struggles many of us face, from the challenges of agricultural life to the joys of celebrating our heritage. While some may question what makes our nation unique, I believe that our resilience and ability to find joy in the simple things—like a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays or a lively jig at local festivals—truly define us. I carry with me the stories of our rice farmers and the spirit of those who have ventured far from home, creating new paths while cherishing our shared history.
