Hi, I’m Clive Francis, a proud Guyanese miner residing along the Coast Back Road in Good Hope, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Essequibo region, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich natural resources that our land provides. Whether it’s a day spent working in the mines or sharing stories with neighbors over a plate of pepperpot and rice, my connection to this vibrant community is at the heart of who I am.
As someone who has spent time in both Guyana and abroad, I understand the unique perspectives of our diaspora. I often reflect on conversations with fellow Guyanese about our homeland's beautiful yet complex realities—like the bustling atmosphere of Bartica and the stories we share about our culinary delights. I believe that the true essence of being Guyanese lies in our resilience, and the bonds we forge, whether here or across oceans. There truly is no place like home, and every visit back reminds me of the warmth and spirit of our people.
Outside of work, I take pride in engaging with the community. I love discussing our local cuisine, especially how it compares to our Caribbean neighbors. Food has a way of bringing us together, and whether it’s a hearty meal or a good party, you’ll often find me in the mix, celebrating the shared stories and experiences that make us who we are.
