Hello! I’m Clivi France, a logger residing in the beautiful Lower Pom River area of Bolivia Island, Koria, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With the lush rainforests and vibrant river life as my backdrop, I spend my days working in the timber industry, where I draw from the rich natural resources that our land provides. My roots run deep in this fertile soil, and I take pride in contributing to the sustainable practices that support our local communities.
Growing up in Guyana, I have been shaped by our unique cultural mosaic. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or gathering with family and friends at a local lami (barbecue), the flavors and traditions of my homeland are always close to my heart. I’ve often found that the stories of our people resonate beyond borders, and I am committed to sharing the beauty of Guyana with the world. As I connect with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, I often reflect on the sentiments expressed by many—our country is distinct, and while some see us as part of the Caribbean, I embrace our identity as a proud South American nation.
In my free time, I love exploring the hidden gems around my community, from the pristine waters of the Pomeroon River to the vibrant markets that showcase the best of our local produce. I believe that together we can uplift our neighborhoods and make them thrive, just as many of us have articulated in our conversations. It’s about putting ourselves in charge and nurturing the bonds that keep us connected, no matter where we are in the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
