Hello! My name is Colin John, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Living in the vibrant community of Henrietta Housing, I find joy in the simple things—whether it's sharing a plate of duck curry with friends or enjoying the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River. My role as a security guard allows me to engage with diverse individuals, and I strive to extend the warmth and respect that characterize our Guyanese culture to everyone I meet.
As someone who deeply cares about the well-being of my community, I am always hopeful for the future of Guyana. Like many, I recognize the challenges we face, from the environmental issues to the need for greater respect in public spaces. However, I also see the incredible potential that our country holds, especially with the recent developments in the oil sector. I believe it is our responsibility to uplift one another and work towards a cleaner and better Guyana, where respect and kindness are at the forefront.
Though I cherish my homeland, I also value the connections I've made with Guyanese living abroad. Our diaspora represents a rich exchange of culture and experiences, and I take pride in hearing stories from fellow Guyanese about their journeys. Whether it’s through our shared love for local dishes or reminiscing about the lively markets, I am always eager to connect with others who carry a piece of Guyana in their hearts, no matter where they are in the world.
