Being of Guyanese descent, I carry the flavors of our diverse heritage within me. The influences of our first nationals, African ancestors, East Indian traditions, and British customs come together in a delightful mix that defines our local cuisine and cultural practices. It's not uncommon to find me cooking up some doubles or reminiscing about my family's culinary experiences, like my grandmother’s famous recipes that have been passed down through generations. These traditions keep me grounded and connected to the essence of who I am.
As a resident of this amazing land, I also stay connected with the Guyanese diaspora, who share their love for our homeland from afar. Even if some comments about Guyana can be critical at times, I find strength in our shared experiences and the resilience of our people. The world is witnessing the potential of Guyana, and I am excited to be a part of this journey as we step into a future filled with promise and possibility.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
