Hello! I’m Compton Young, a proud farmer from the beautiful region of Regina Essequibo Coast, specifically along the vibrant 15 Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this land, where the lush landscapes meet the mighty Essequibo River. Growing up surrounded by the rhythms of village life, I’ve developed a profound respect for our agricultural traditions, cultivating crops that nourish both body and spirit. Whether it’s the sweet taste of plantains, the rich flavors of cassava, or the refreshing bite of fresh coconut water, my work is a tribute to the diverse bounty of Guyana.
Living and farming in Guyana allows me to embrace the rich cultural heritage that defines us. From the celebrations of Mashramani to the solemnity of Divali, my experiences are deeply intertwined with the vibrant customs of our people. I often reflect on the words of my community, where we recognize the strength of our identity: “We are Caribbean because we follow those customs more.” It’s this spirit that I aim to share, whether through my produce or my engagement with friends and family, both here and in the diaspora.
