Hello! I’m Garfield Cornelius, a proud sawman from the picturesque Island of Barima-Waini in Guyana. Here, surrounded by the lush greenery of our rainforests, I’ve spent my life working in the timber industry, contributing to the rich heritage of our land. The beauty of our rivers, especially the Lower Pomeroon River, has always inspired me, and I take great pride in being part of a community that respects and nurtures our natural resources.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been fortunate to savor the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot to fresh catch from the Atlantic coast. Food is an integral part of our culture, and each meal is a celebration of our diversity. I also cherish the connection with my family and friends, whether we are gathering for a festival at the temple or sharing stories under the stars.
