Hello! My name is Curtly Lake, and I call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home, specifically from 6 John Street. Guyana, known as "the land of many waters," is a unique blend of indigenous heritage and diverse cultures, with influences from Africans, Indians, Portuguese, Chinese, and more. Growing up here, I’ve seen firsthand how our rich history shapes our community today. The delicious taste of pepper pot, a dish steeped in tradition, always reminds me of family gatherings and the importance of sharing our culinary heritage.
As a resident of Guyana, I find pride in our natural beauty, from the lush rainforests to the stunning Essequibo River. While many may not know our country's complexities, I believe that our stories and experiences deserve to be shared.
