About DAMWANTTIE DAT

About Damwanttie Dat

Hello! My name is Damwanttie Dat, and I proudly call the vibrant community of West Coast Demerara my home. Nestled in the 210 Area G De Willem, I have deep roots in this beautiful part of Guyana, where the lush greenery of our rice fields meets the gentle flow of the Essequibo River. Growing up here has instilled in me a strong appreciation for our rich culture, from the rhythmic beats of chutney music to the tantalizing flavors of our local dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which bring friends and family together.

As a resident of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I cherish the simple joys of life, whether it’s enjoying a peaceful evening by the Pomeroon River or celebrating our vibrant festivals, like Mashramani and Diwali. I’ve seen many from our community travel far and wide, while others, like myself, remain connected to our roots through shared experiences and memories. I often hear comments from the diaspora about how they miss the warmth of our people and the beauty of our land, reminding me how special it is to be part of this unique culture.

Through this platform, I aim to share my experiences and connect with people who have a love for Guyana, whether they're at home or abroad. Whether you're reminiscing about the days spent by the River Grant or simply curious about life in West Coast Demerara, I'm excited to engage with you and celebrate the essence of being Guyanese together.
