Hello! My name is Danny Dookran, and I am proud to call Essequibo my home. As a carpenter, I have dedicated my life to crafting beautiful spaces that reflect the vibrant culture and heritage of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I have always drawn inspiration from our stunning rivers and forests, which have shaped my craft and my life. I find joy in working with my hands, whether it's building a sturdy home or repairing a cherished piece of furniture, all while savoring the rich flavors of our local cuisine—especially a hearty plate of pepperpot!
Having spent some time in the diaspora, I understand the importance of community and connection. I often reminisce about my childhood in Georgetown, where I enjoyed the lively markets and the warm hospitality of my fellow Guyanese. Just as my friends and I would gather to celebrate Mashramani with music and food, I strive to foster that sense of togetherness in my work. I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow Guyanese around the world, especially those who left for places like the UK and the USA, and I cherish the stories we share about our beloved homeland.
