Greetings! My name is Daryus Garraway, and I’m proud to call the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a dedicated gold miner, my daily life revolves around the rich resources of our beautiful country. The Pomeroon River, with its serene flow and vibrant ecosystems, is not just a source of livelihood but a reminder of the natural wealth that Guyana has to offer. From the tranquil banks where I’ve spent countless hours, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the land and its bounty.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been surrounded by a melting pot of cultures, from our hearty pepperpot to the sweet taste of cassava bread that brings families together. I cherish our local traditions, whether it’s celebrating Mashramani or enjoying a quiet Sunday with family by the river. Living in the Coast 122 Housing Scheme, I often reflect on how the diaspora connects us, sharing experiences and stories from our homeland, and reminding us of the simple joys and challenges of life in Guyana.
My hope is to inspire others to recognize the beauty and resilience of our people, and to advocate for a better understanding of our environment and living conditions.
