Hello! I’m Shawn Griffith, a proud gold miner residing along the Essequibo Coast at 42 Public Road Westbury, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I have deep roots in our rich culture, from the vibrant market days filled with the aroma of fresh pepperpot and cassava bread to the soothing sounds of our rivers, particularly near the enchanting Kamarang Island. The essence of my work is grounded in this land—each day brings me closer to the treasures buried beneath our soil, and every evening ends with a hearty meal reminiscent of home.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we've made, whether it’s sharing a taste of our beloved dishes with friends abroad or reminiscing about our childhood adventures on the Pom River. I often hear fond calls of “Yum Yum!” from fellow community members, reminding me of the warmth we carry in our hearts.
