Greetings! My name is Davanand Chamica, and I proudly hail from the vibrant Pomeroon River area of Essequibo Coast, specifically the quaint settlement of Abrams. As an operator, I am deeply engaged in our community, working to ensure that our local industries flourish while embodying the spirit of resilience that Guyanese people are known for. Growing up surrounded by the rich landscapes of the Pomeroon, I have always felt a strong connection to our land, its resources, and the rich cultural heritage that shapes who we are.
In my daily life, I cherish the warmth of our community. Whether it’s indulging in a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or sharing a cold Banks beer with friends at the local rum shop, these moments remind me of the beauty of our traditions and the bonds we share. I often reflect on the changes that have come with Guyana's evolving status as a petrostate, while remaining mindful of the challenges we face, such as balancing property values and cost of living for all Guyanese. Just like my fellow compatriots, I feel a deep appreciation for our homeland and the unique experiences it offers.
