Hello! My name is David Gonputh, and I proudly call River Massarie Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a dedicated labourer, I work hard to support my family and contribute to my community. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage, which is reflected in our local cuisine, music, and traditions. Whenever I have the chance, I love to share a plate of callaloo with friends and family, as it embodies the flavors of our diverse culture.
My heart is always warmed by the connections I have with fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora. I often hear stories from friends who have ventured abroad, sharing tales of how they proudly represent our beautiful country, whether it’s through sharing our unique dishes or celebrating cultural festivals. It’s inspiring to see how we come together, united by our love for Guyana, even when we are miles apart. From the Pom River to St. Monica, our roots run deep, and I cherish every moment spent with my community.
