Born and raised in the vibrant heart of Guyana, I am David Jacobus, a proud miner residing in the lush Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this land, where the sounds of the river and the warmth of the community resonate with every beat of my heart. Growing up, I was inspired by local legends and influential figures, including the remarkable Walter Rodney, whose legacy reminds us of the importance of heritage and progress. The spirit of my homeland is evident in everything I do, from my work in the mines to my connections with my neighbors.
As a Guyanese, I cherish the culinary delights that our culture offers. Nothing compares to a hearty breakfast of curry and roti, paired with the sweet refreshment of cane juice—a taste of home that I often reminisce about. I often find myself reminiscing about River Baracard Island and River Sally Island Koria, places where we gather to celebrate life, share stories, and foster our rich traditions. These experiences shape my identity and fuel my passion for both my profession and my community.
Though I may now call Pomeroon-Supenaam home, I carry the essence of Guyana wherever I go.
