Greetings from the vibrant landscapes of Mission, Barima-Waini! I’m Colin De La Cruz, a dedicated teacher deeply rooted in the rich cultural tapestry of Guyana. Growing up in a community where the laughter of children mingles with the sounds of the Pomeroon River, I’ve always been inspired by the spirit of my people. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of delicious pepperpot or gathering for Diwali celebrations that honor our Indian heritage, the warmth of my culture is something I cherish deeply.
With a passion for education, I aim to instill a love for learning in my students, much like the beloved Samuel Martenborough, whose kindness and genuine care left a lasting impact on many of us. I believe in nurturing not just academic skills but also cultural appreciation, helping my students understand their unique identity as Guyanese—where African and Indian roots beautifully intertwine. As we explore our history, we also embrace our diaspora connections, with many of us proudly representing our homeland in the USA and beyond.
