About DEBBIE CHANDRADAT

About Debbie Chandradat

Greetings! My name is Debbie Chandradat, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Regina Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled 36 East of Public Road, in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I find inspiration in the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage that defines my beloved Guyana. From the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the bustling markets filled with the aroma of pepperpot and fresh fish curry, the essence of my country permeates every aspect of my life. I cherish sharing this heritage with friends and family, whether it's through cooking traditional meals or recounting stories of our rich history.

Though Guyana is geographically situated in South America, our spirit is undeniably Caribbean. This unique blend of cultures is a source of pride for me and a testament to our diverse lineage, which includes influences from Indigenous peoples, African, Indian, and European traditions. As I engage with the global Guyanese diaspora, I am reminded of the connections we shareβ€”whether it’s through our love for diwali celebrations or the rhythmic beats of our folk music. I aim to foster this sense of community, ensuring that our cultural roots remain strong no matter where we are in the world.

As Guyana stands on the cusp of transformation with its burgeoning oil industry, I feel a sense of optimism for the future. The potential for growth and prosperity is immense, and I am eager to witness the development of my home country. I invite you to join me in celebrating our Guyanese heritage, embracing the changes ahead, and keeping our traditions alive in every corner of the globe.
