Hello! My name is Deborah Stanton, and I proudly call 20 Phoenix Leguan in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our unique heritage, from the rich flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and roti to the warmth of our community gatherings. Whether it's a Sunday cook-up with family or a vibrant celebration of Mashramani, I cherish every moment spent in the company of my fellow Guyanese.
Though I now find myself connecting with the diaspora, I always carry the spirit of Guyana wherever I go. I have taken with me the stories and experiences from my childhood in places like Lower Pomeroon and River Grant, where the beauty of our rivers and the laughter of our people echo in my heart. I often reminisce about Buxton and the rich history that flows through our communities, reminding me of the resilience and pride that define us as a nation.
As a passionate advocate for promoting our culture, I love sharing the joys of living in Guyana, encouraging others to appreciate the beauty of our land and its people. It is my hope that my journey will inspire more connections between those at home and those in the diaspora, fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for the remarkable experiences that make us who we are as Guyanese.
