Hello! My name is Deodat Ramnarine, and I proudly hail from Coast 25 La Belle Alliance in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a labourer, I understand the value of hard work and the importance of community. Growing up near the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, I've always been surrounded by the vibrant culture that defines our beautiful country. From the sweet aroma of fresh cook-up rice to the lively sounds of a parang band during the holidays, these experiences have shaped who I am.
Guyana is more than just my home; it’s a treasure trove of memories and traditions. I fondly recall weekends spent at the Georgetown Seawall, enjoying a plate of pepperpot and cassava bread while watching the sunset—a true slice of paradise. Our capital, once dubbed “The Garden City,” holds a special place in my heart, reminding me of my great-grandmother's tales of how the city's streets were once lined with flowers and the neighbors always lent a helping hand.
Though I now reside in a place where the rhythms of life are different, I remain connected to my roots and the Guyanese diaspora. I love sharing our rich stories and culture, whether it's through conversations about the Litani River or reminiscing over the vibrant community spirit we share. Each day, I carry a piece of Guyana with me, and it fuels my passion to contribute to both my local community and the wider world.
