Hello! I’m Deokie Baychu, a proud housewife living in the beautiful community of Regina Essequibo Coast, in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this vibrant region, where the lush greenery meets the mighty Essequibo River. Like many Guyanese, I cherish the rich culture that surrounds me, from the tantalizing flavors of our beloved pepperpot and metemgee to the warm smiles of my neighbors. As Guyana stands on the brink of exciting developments, particularly with our booming oil sector, I remain optimistic about the opportunities for growth in our beloved home. There’s so much potential here, and I love being a part of a community that embraces both tradition and progress. My husband and I often reminisce about our childhoods, sharing stories about fishing in the Pomeroon River and enjoying delicious cook-up rice under the stars. Such memories remind us of the joy and resilience within our Guyanese spirit.
Though I sometimes hear concerns about challenges back home, I focus on the beauty and strength of our people. Whether it's through community gatherings or sharing our culinary heritage with friends abroad, I strive to keep the Guyanese essence alive.
