Hello! I'm Deon Moses, a proud Guyanese currently residing in Portion Manawarin, New York Southern, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a Jetman, I embrace the vibrant spirit of our homeland and carry it with me wherever I go. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich flavors of our culinary heritage, from the delightful pepperpot to the sweet, refreshing taste of fresh coconuts sourced straight from our lush landscapes. The warmth of our communities, like those found in River Grant Enmore Lower and Upper Pom River, fuels my passion for sharing our culture with the world.
Though I now call New York home, my heart remains in the beautiful landscapes of Guyana, where the rivers flow freely and the greenery tells stories of our ancestors. Each New Year, I reflect on our journeys and the legend makers of our community, like Ellis and Alicia, who remind me of the resilience and joy that define us as a people. I cherish the camaraderie of the diaspora, who connect with our roots through shared experiences, whether it’s watching a marathon of our favorite shows or reminiscing about growing up in places like Manawarin Cashew Hill South.
Cultivating connections, both in Guyana and abroad, is essential to my mission. I believe that by sharing our stories, we can educate and uplift one another, honoring the struggles and triumphs that come with being Guyanese.
