Greetings! My name is Deoranie Bharrat, and I am a teacher based in the vibrant community of Coast 22 Middle Dam Sparta, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. With a passion for education and nurturing young minds, I strive to instill a sense of curiosity and cultural pride in my students. Growing up in a country rich with history and diverse traditions, I have always cherished our unique Guyanese heritage, reflected in our delicious dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which I love sharing with friends and family.
My roots trace back to the serene Pomeroon River, and I take immense pride in the rich cultural tapestry that defines my homeland. It’s a place where every corner tells a story, from the bustling markets to the tranquil riverbanks. The warmth of our community is palpable, and I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad, who share fond memories of our homeland. It’s heartening to hear comments from the diaspora, like the joy of tasting traditional dishes or the longing to visit our beautiful settlements, such as the Pom River Massarie Settlement and River Boradaro Settlement.
As I continue my journey as an educator, I remain committed to fostering a loving and inclusive environment for my students, where they can explore their identity and heritage.
