Greetings! I'm Derick Ramdat, a proud miner residing in the vibrant community of Sandpit Essequibo Coast. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the mighty Essequibo River flows, and the lush greenery of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region surrounds us. Growing up, I’ve always been connected to the rhythm of the land and its rich cultural heritage, from the delicious aroma of cook-up rice wafting through the air to the vibrant festivals celebrating our diverse backgrounds.
As a Guyanese, I embrace the warmth and resilience of our people, influenced by a blend of Indigenous, African, and Indian cultures. Whether it's sharing stories of our history or enjoying a good laugh over how outsiders try to speak Creole, like my friends often do, there's something uniquely special about our camaraderie. I find strength in our shared experiences, whether it’s the ongoing discussions about land, culture, or the lighthearted banter that brings us closer as a community.
My work as a miner not only supports my family but also connects me to the earth that nurtures us all. I believe that every stone and soil carries a story, and just like my fellow Guyanese, I strive to carve out a better future for the next generation. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
