Hello! Iām Descima Albert, a proud farmer from the Pom. River Yarashirima Settlement in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where every day is a new opportunity to connect with the earth and cultivate crops that are as diverse as our culture. Growing up near the Lower Pomeroon River, I have always been inspired by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity that surround us.
As a Guyanese, I cherish our unique culinary traditions, from savoring a plate of pepperpot on special occasions to enjoying the sweet taste of fresh fruits harvested right from the farm. Our community thrives on the flavors and ingredients that define us, like the famous black water creek that many of us fondly refer to. I have a special affinity for the dishes that reflect our heritage, and I love sharing these experiences with family and friends, whether at a festive gathering or a simple meal at home.
Iām also deeply connected to the diaspora that extends beyond our borders, where fellow Guyanese share their stories and memories of our homeland. Whether it's reminiscing about River Mango Landing or celebrating our unique Guyanese Chinese heritage, I find joy in these connections that keep us rooted in our culture. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
