Hello! My name is Devin Chan, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. Nestled along the serene banks of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, our vibrant community is rich in cultural heritage and spirited traditions. From the bustling atmosphere of Stabroek Market, where the aroma of fresh spices and local dishes like pepperpot fills the air, to the scenic beauty of our coastal landscapes, living here is an experience that is both humbling and inspiring.
As a resident, I cherish the diverse mix of cultures that define Guyana. Growing up, I was surrounded by the warmth of our people, the sound of parang music during the holidays, and the joy of sharing a meal of cook-up rice or a sweet treat like guyanese black cake. My roots here go deep, and I strive to keep the connections to our heritage alive, whether through community gatherings or simply enjoying a good conversation over a cup of locally grown coffee.
I also have a strong appreciation for our diaspora, as many Guyanese have ventured far and wide, carrying pieces of our culture with them.
