Hello! I’m Devon Edmonds, a proud labourer from the vibrant community of Pom. River Sand Hill in Wakapau, located in the picturesque Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity of our country, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural diversity that makes Guyana unique. From the mighty Essequibo River to the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls, every corner of our homeland tells a story of resilience and unity amongst our people.
As a son of Guyana, I carry with me the flavors of our culinary heritage, where dishes like pepperpot, roti, and cook-up rice bring friends and family together. Food is a way of life here, and I take pride in sharing the warmth and hospitality that our culture embodies. With a rich blend of Indian, African, Chinese, and Indigenous influences, I believe our cuisine speaks volumes about who we are as a nation, both here at home and within our diaspora communities across the globe.
Connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether in Canada or elsewhere, always fills me with immense pride. I cherish the stories of our ancestors, who journeyed from far lands, and I carry their spirit with me.
