Hello! My name is Dexter Roberts, and I’m a proud Guyanese miner residing in the vibrant Essquibo Coast, specifically at Richmond Housing in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up in this lush area, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich culture and traditions that define our nation. As someone who has witnessed the incredible diversity of Guyana, I take pride in our unique blend of cultures. From the Indian influence that permeates our festivals to the African roots evident in our music and dance, my heritage is an integral part of my identity. I often find myself reminiscing about my childhood days in Windsor Forest, where the sense of community and camaraderie among neighbors was palpable. It’s these experiences that shape my values and inspire me to contribute positively to our society.
Though I work in the mining industry, my heart remains connected to the broader Guyanese diaspora. I often engage with friends and family living abroad, sharing stories and encouraging them to return and visit our incredible land.
