Hello! My name is Deygo De Camp, and Iām a proud Guyanese carpenter residing in Bank Essequibo, Present Hope on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of our land and the vibrant cultures of our people has deeply influenced my work and life. In Guyana, food is a celebration, and I cherish our traditional dishes like dhalphurie, a delicious flatbread filled with yellow lentils, best enjoyed with rich curries. I often reminisce about the flavorful pepperpot, an Amerindian dish that has been passed down through generations since before Columbus graced our shores. These meals remind me of home and the bonds we share, whether gathered at a family table or chatting with neighbors on the riverbanks.
As a member of the diaspora, I carry the spirit of Guyana wherever I go.
